It’s about it

  • 20-year-old Edin is part of the cast of “Young, wild & sexy: Refilled” on oneplus.

  • The program is particularly exciting for the Zurich native because the children’s tutor comes out as gay in the first episode.

  • In an interview with 20 Minutes, Edin tells how his father accepted his trip and how he managed to keep it under wraps over the years.

It finally starts on Wednesday. “Young, wild & sexy: Refilled” airs on oneplus. After more than a decade, the cult show is experiencing its big revival. In the reality show, eleven party-loving young people from all over Switzerland come together to kick things off on the party island of Cyprus. Edin is one of them. For the 20-year-old, being on the show is twice as exciting. “The biggest burden that falls on me is my output,” the early childhood educator says in an interview with 20 Minutes.

“I just have to give dad time”

Already in the first episode, Edin comes out as gay. A bold move, because very few people around him know about his same-sex attraction. He also initially wanted to tell his father and brother about the reality format, but changed his mind shortly before the promo tour and caught up on the self-confessed conversation.

“I told my brother about it on the phone. He took it completely in stride and just waved his hand. My father, on the other hand, was not very good at it. I just have to give him time to swallow it.” Edin suspects that his father suspected it, but he didn’t want to believe it. “He’s still at the stage where he doesn’t want to accept it.” Still, Edin doesn’t let it go, saying clearly, “Now I free. Now he should do whatever he wants with the information. Now it’s my turn to live my life the way I want. I’m still the same person.”

“As long as I don’t wear the ring, it’s nobody’s business”

When asked why he didn’t come out sooner, Edin explains: “It wasn’t necessary. You don’t have to know who I’m sleeping with if I don’t have a ring on my finger.” The only ones who knew about him were his mother and his closest friends. The 20-year-old has been able to avoid the topic so far because, according to his own statements, he hasn’t lived at home for a long time.

The 20-year-old justifies his participation in “Jung, wild & sexy: Refilled” by saying that he always wanted to participate in such a trash TV format. However, Edin was worried about his sexuality. “You should be who you are on a show like this. The time has come when I found it, now it has to come out.”

Taboo topic in Bosnia

Another thorny issue when it comes to TV outings is where you come from. Edin comes from Bosnia. “For a long time, everything except heterosexuality was taboo in Bosnia. But from what I heard, there was supposed to be hidden pride in the meantime. But it’s worlds compared to Switzerland.” As Edin goes on to say, he has no close contact with his family in Bosnia. “I deleted most of them from Instagram. I don’t care what you think.” At family parties, he always withdrew so as not to attract attention. “I didn’t drink on purpose. If I did, I’d give myself away,” he laughs.

Drinking and dancing Edin can be seen on oneplus from Wednesday. In the reality format “Young, wild & sexy: Refilled”, the native of Zurich gives an insight into the wild party holiday with ten other participants in Cyprus.
