The signals our body sends us cannot always be interpreted with certainty. In particular, when it comes to questions about sleep, researchers are still searching in vain for answers. But they could approach one of them. She could tell us the answer to the question “when i die“closer.
when will i die Footprints discovered in my sleep
As part of a meta-study published in the journal npj Digital Medicine, dozens of 55-year-olds analyzed their sleep characteristics. The research was led by Emmanuel Mignot, a professor of sleep medicine at Stanford University. Mignot and his colleagues analyzed the results of nearly 12,000 studies, each looking at a single individual.
The work primarily dealt with the behavior of the test subjects during sleep. Characteristics such as breathing, heart rate and even jaw and leg movement were considered. Based on this data, Mignot and his team determined a system for assigning people a so-called “sleep age.”
Basically, people in different age groups also show different behaviors during sleep. Using machine learning, the researchers filtered out these subtle differences to create a sort of classification system. But what is interesting above all is that not every person sleeps according to their biological age. So part of the answer to the question “When will I die?” can be found in sleep itself.
“Our key finding was that sleep fragmentation — waking up multiple times during the night for less than a minute without remembering it — is the strongest predictor of mortality,” Mignot told Futurity. So far, however, the team has only been able to determine correlation, but not causation.
To also answer the remaining questions about interactions and possible treatment methods, researchers still lack the right method at this time. However, future studies should also produce these results.
Apps can help
So when will I die? You won’t know the exact answer from sleep. However, if you’re waking up more often during the night, it can at least indicate that it’s happening sooner rather than later. It can help you slow down your life a little so that your sleep is more restful. Stress also plays a significant role in the quality of your sleep.
Sleep apps like Sleep Cycle or SnoreLab can help you track your sleep. The former even shows you when you wake up at night – even if you don’t remember. If you notice any irregularities, try to change your bedtime habits.
