The way he salted the steak made it «Salt Bae» internationally known in 2017. Today, Nusret Gökçe, as he is actually called, runs several successful luxury restaurants. However, in his recent Instagram post, Gökçe has now drawn the ire of his followers. In it, he proudly displays a bill of more than 615,000 dirhams – the equivalent of almost 160,000 francs.

Golden steaks for more than 2000 francs

The hefty bill was paid in one go by unknown guests “Nusr-Et” – restaurant in Abu Dhabi. Gökçe demanded over 2,300 francs for two gold leaf Istanbul steaks, around 1,400 francs for two golden “Ottoman steaks”, 1,160 francs for two fillet steaks, and another 1,000 francs for eleven fillet steaks. Four portions of fries were a good 46 francs. But the guests paid the most for wine, more than 130,000 francs.

The bill also includes a bottle of Heineken for the equivalent of 14.20 francs, nine bottles of still water for more than 100 francs and six bottles of sparkling mineral water for the equivalent of 70 francs, such as «Daily Mail» informs.

In a very short time, “Salt Bae’s” post received a barrage of criticism from Instagram users, generating more than 700,000 likes and 33,000 comments, many of which were outraged. The user wrote: “This is bad, you could save a whole village from death with this money. It’s scary.”

“I’m sorry”

“When I see this account and think you could save the whole town from starvation for a few days, it makes me sad,” the user wrote alongside the image. Another user comments that there are people who won’t earn that much in their lifetime. Gökçe simply commented on the receipt saying “Quality is never expensive”.

Gökçe has not commented yet. It is clear that many wealthy people are likely to be traveling in the Emirates at the moment due to the upcoming Formula 1 race and the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
