- FC Zurich deservedly beat Servette 4:1 at home and celebrated their second win of the season.
- Aiyegun Tosin scores a hat-trick for the champions.
- Other Superliga matches on Sunday: YB-Lucerne 3-0, Lugano-Winterthur 3-1.
At 3-0, Ancillo Canepa allowed himself a slight smile. A good weekend ended for the FCZ president. On Friday, at the league meeting, his request to waive the start of the playoffs went through, and two days later, his players came out with a redemptive 2nd win of the season.
And it is fully deserved. Zurich were the more aggressive team in front of the home crowd and had the strongest man in their ranks in Tosin.
Tosin’s big afternoon
The Nigerian scored twice with his head, first on a pass from Jonathan Okita (31 ́), after a good hour he ran onto a cross from Nikola Boranijasevich. Shortly before the end, Bledian Krasniqi pushed the ball into the far corner. Meanwhile, Nikola Katic increased the lead to 2-0 with a wonderful direct reception (50th).
It was Tosin’s first goals in more than two months. He especially thanked his teammates, “without whom I couldn’t have done it.” Now they want to recover and “improve” after tiring months of European Cup games.
Servette was unable to react for a long time. Second in the table could only come into play if Nicola Vouilloz had an early chance. Miroslav Stevanovic scored an honorable goal in the 88th minute.
This is how it goes
After a two-month break from the championship, FCZ will resume on January 21 with an away match at FC Luzern. Servette appears in Winterthur as a guest the next day.
