  • Kurt Cobain’s broken guitar fetches more than $486,000 at auction.

  • The former Nirvana frontman smashed his guitar on stage during the first US tour in 1989.

It was one of his trademarks: shredding his guitar on stage in front of thousands of spectators. Kurt Cobain was a famous guitar destroyer. After 33 years, a “1973 Fender Mustang” has now been auctioned in New York.

The auction was part of a three-day rock ‘n’ roll auction that featured over 1,500 items from musicians such as Cobain, John Lennon and Madonna.
