The Swiss beats Jack Draper in 3 sets at the start of the Next Generation ATP Finals.

What a debut for Dominic Stricker (ATP 111): The 20-year-old celebrated a three-set victory over Britain’s Jack Draper in his first match at the Next Generation ATP Finals in Milan – a three-set tiebreaker – break. After 1:26 hours, Stricker used his 5th match point to win 4:3 (7:5), 4:3 (7:5) and 4:3 (7:5).

The man from Bern was able to save a tie-break in the final set. At 3:2, he gained a 40:0 lead and thus 4 match points in a row (at 40:40, another point decides the game win). But Draper showed fighting qualities and saved himself in the tie-break.

A tailor-made start

Dominic Stricker is off to a strong start in the Next Generation Finals.

Another against Musetti

Stricker was especially convincing on his own serve (14 aces, 86 percent of points won on first serve). In the second match on Wednesday evening, the Swiss will now face group favorite Lorenzo Musetti (ATP 23). The Italian local hero prevailed in the opening match against Taiwan’s Tseng Chun-Hsin 4:2, 4:2 and 4:2.
