Nazan Eckes first appeared in front of RTL cameras in 1999 as a weather forecaster for the local magazine. She quickly became one of the most sought-after and popular presenters of the Cologne private channel and hosted major shows such as “Life! – The Desire to Live”, “Explosiv – Das Magazin” “Let’s Dance” and even DSDS. Nazan has remained loyal to Eckes RTL for more than 20 years – until now.

After the “Bild” reported the 45-year-old wants to leave the station this year at her own request and has already quit, Eckes now confirms to the newspaper: “All signs point to a change for me at the moment. This is why I have decided to end the previous exclusive collaboration with RTL.”

“Dare to make a new start”

The broadcaster previously denied saying goodbye and said: “We cannot confirm that Nazan Eckes is leaving RTL.” We still have projects with her and are already working together on specific formats. The presenter also confirmed this. She will put back her current program “Extra”, “but there are ideas to set up joint projects with RTL on a completely new basis beyond the end of 2022”.

She looks forward to it, but is open to new challenges. “I would also like to fulfill very personal wishes and dreams. To dare to make a new start”, continued Nazan Eckes. The mother-of-two left open what it was.

Nazan Eckes had already taken a TV break in 2020 to be more there for his family. His father, who lives in Turkey, had Alzheimer’s disease and Necmettin Üngör died in March aged 77 from the disease.
