The country singer will do her best to do good things with that money.
The “Bezos Courage & Civility Award” honors leaders who “seek solutions with courage and moral courage,” and was awarded this year to country singer Dolly Parton. The founder of Amazon announced it together with his partner Lauren Sanchez. Parton described it as “a woman who gives with her heart and leads with love and compassion in every aspect of her work.” It is reported by the BBC.
“Wow! Did you say $100 million?” Parton reportedly asked during the ceremony. She believes that people who are able should put their money where their hearts are and do their best to invest it in good causes, she added.
Parton has already started a foundation and supported the Moderna vaccine
Parton already supports various organizations and founded the “Dollywood” foundation, which distributes books to children around the world. Parton also takes a seat requested vaccination against Covid-19. Moderna’s vaccine was with a gift developed by Parton to the tune of one million.
The award has been presented since 2001, when it was won by activist Van Jones and chef Jose Andres, who founded World Central Kitchen, a company that distributes food to disaster-affected areas.
