A strong earthquake hit Italy on Wednesday morning. As the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) confirmed to the “Kleine Zeitung”, the earthquake had its epicenter in the Ancona area. Destruction can be expected within a radius of 70 kilometers. Later in the morning, there were other smaller earthquakes.
The tremors included the capital Rome, large parts of northern Italy and the coast of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and parts of the eastern Alps, according to the earthquake news portal. Many hotels were evacuated. Tourists gather at the train station hoping to leave the city. On the Richter scale, the earthquake at the epicenter reached a value of 6.1.
