Substances include the plasticizers phthalates, many of which are classified as harmful to health and even toxic to fertility. Six of the 47 products exceed the limit values ​​of phthalates according to the so-called REACH regulation. It regulates the concentrations of chemicals that can be exported to the EU. This value is particularly extreme for a pair of snowshoes: the limit value is exceeded by an incredible 680 percent for the processed material – Greenpeace confirmed lifestyle 20 minutes on request.

Formaldehyde – the substance responsible for the fact that low-quality alcohol can cause blindness, for example – was detected in three items of clothing, including clothes for children. A sample of the same dress exceeds the limit values ​​of REACH and the EU Toys Directive.

Tests also revealed toxic alkylphenol ethoxylates, heavy metals and carcinogenic PAHs. According to Greenpeace, Shein threatens “the health of customers and the workers who make the products.”
