  • Swiss reservoirs are currently 85.5 percent full.
  • That’s 9.7 percentage points more than the average for the same time over the past 20 years, figures from the Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) show.

The filling level of the tanks is important for the supply of energy in the winter. Gas reservoirs in Germany and France are also important. Each of them is filled to 99.3 percent. The level of filling is thus above the long-term average. Over the past ten years, it was 87.5 percent at the same time.

According to the SFOE, Switzerland consumed 58,113 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity last year. If all storage tanks are completely full, this corresponds to a total electricity supply of 8,865 GWh, or approximately 15 percent of Switzerland’s annual electricity consumption.
