  • According to a report from the British newspaper “Sun”, former tennis star Boris Becker, who was imprisoned in Great Britain, could soon be deported to Germany.
  • The tabloid writes that the fifty-four-year-old man was admitted to the accelerated procedure, which allows foreign prisoners to be released much earlier.

“He was signed up to the program to make sure he got home in time for Christmas,” the Sun quoted a prison source as saying. Becker’s longtime lawyer, Christian-Oliver Moser, did not want to comment on the newspaper report when asked.

Becker was sentenced to two and a half years at the end of April for concealing assets worth millions from his insolvency administrators. He has been held for several months in Huntercombe Prison, west of London, which has a lower security level.

The deadline would be July 29, 2023

Under British law, prisoners can be released on parole if they have served at least half of their sentences. For Becker, that would be 15 months – so the deadline would be July 29, 2023.
