The influencer thinks her ex-husband, kicker Mats Hummels, is “too present” among German men. Cathy Hummels would much rather have another British or American boyfriend.
Influencer Cathy Hummels (34) no longer wants Germans. “I’d rather have an American or an Englishman,” she says in the documentary “Cathy Hummels – Everything in the Beginning” broadcast by RTLzwei on Wednesday night.
In it, during his stay in Los Angeles, he registers with a dating agency that, according to Hummels, “specializes in businessmen, including celebrities.” “I’m really shy when it comes to men,” she tells the agency’s ladies. And in no case: “I don’t want any more Germans.” Her ex, longtime national soccer player Mats Hummels, is just too present for German men.
But she feels that she is “slowly ready to meet another man again,” he says. “I don’t want a permanent relationship yet, but I just want to go on dates and enjoy life a little.”
In the documentary, Cathy Hummels talks in detail for the first time about her separation from Mats Hummels (33) after more than 13 years together. “We tried to avoid a breakup, but in the end it was Mats who said: I can’t and I don’t want to continue like this anymore,” she says.
Cathy Hummels had two major depressions
The problem was that she stayed in Munich when her husband moved from Bayern Munich back to Borussia Dortmund in 2019. “I didn’t want to go back,” she says, explaining that she had two major depressions when she first came to Dortmund.
But her husband wanted her around more. “I had a choice: either lose him or lose myself and I had to make the decision myself,” Hummels says on the show, tearfully speaking of “the sadness in relation to Mats and that we just couldn’t do it”. He tries to see the headlines about it with humor. “But it still hurts,” she says. “We were thirteen years—or thirteen and a half—inseparable.
Deciding to go to a dating agency was a “big step” because I no longer have experience there. I don’t even know how it works.” Her conclusion: “Nice guy, but the spark didn’t jump there.”
