It’s about it

  • Maria wrote an anonymous letter to the youth welfare office in autumn 2020.

  • An eight-year-old girl was imprisoned by her mother for about seven years.

  • The woman told authorities she had moved to Italy with her daughter.

Im The case of eight-year-old Maria new information has become known. As “Focus” writes with reference to the German press agency, the girl sent an anonymous letter to the youth welfare office in the fall of 2020. The letter was composed of cut-up letters and written from the girl’s point of view. A second letter followed six weeks later, and then another. However, the Youth Welfare Office did not contact the police until autumn 2021 after receiving a report with specific information.

“Everything is so big, so much space”

Around Rosemarie G. (47) kept Maria captive in the house for seven years – the girl did not socialize with her peers or go out. After her liberation on September 23, she stated that she had never seen a forest and had never sat in a meadow. She never even drove in a car. “Everything is so big, there is so much space,” said the child in amazement. According to the court, it was also difficult to climb the stairs.

The mother told Maria’s father, who had already separated from Rosemarie G. when she was born, that she was emigrating to Calabria with the child. She actually stayed home and lived in her parents’ house. Despite several suspicions from the party The authorities never took a closer look.

The father wants to see his daughter again

Why nobody noticed anything over the years still raises many questions. The investigator is primarily interested in why the father never really tried to get to know his daughter. During questioning, the man said he believed “that he will be denied contact with the child in Italy,” says Patrick Baron von Grotthuss, the prosecutor in charge. He “resigned” after a custody dispute. Rosemarie G. apparently wanted to destroy all bridges with her ex-partner after he told her about the new relationship, reports “Focus”. She even waived any child support payments in the family court proceedings.

The Youth Protection Office has now banned both parents from having contact with the eight-year-old child. But now the father has declared that he wants to return connect with maria.
