Dominic Stricker doesn’t give Tseng Chun-Hsin a chance in the last match of the group and celebrates his 3rd win. The opponent in the semi-finals is Jiří Lehecká.

Dominic Stricker (ATP 111) had to go through tie-breaks in each of the 8 sets in the first two games at the Next Gen Finals. On Thursday, the twenty-year-old continued the gala. Stricker dominated Taiwan’s Tseng Chun-Hsin (ATP 90) from the start and in just 56 minutes celebrated a 4-2, 4-1 and 4-2 victory without any discussion.

I play extremely aggressively and extremely well. I hope I can do it again against Lehecka.

The man from Bern, who only qualified for the tournament in Milan at the last minute, finished the group stage with an unblemished record. Stricker’s convincing performances made it 3 wins in 3 matches, leaving top seeds Lorenzo Musetti (ITA/ATP 23) and Jack Draper (GBR/ATP 41) behind to enter the knockout stages as group winners.

Semi-final on Friday against Lehecka

In Friday’s semi-finals (19:00) Stricker will face Jiří Lehečka (ATP 74). The 21-year-old Czech ranked second in the green group behind Brandon Nakashima (USA/ATP 49), the only duel so far was won by Stricker in the summer qualification at the grass tournament in Halle in 3 sets.

“Now I was able to show my qualities three times,” the Swiss left-hander is satisfied. “I play extremely aggressively and extremely well. I hope I can do it again against Lehecka.”
