Amazon Web Services invests billions in Swiss data centers

The opening of Amazon’s infrastructure region Switzerland also brings improvements in streaming. Amazon Prime Video or Netflix benefit from this.

Amazon subsidiary Amazon Web Services (AWS) intends to invest approximately 5.9 billion Swiss francs in Switzerland by 2036. The American technology giant is investing money in the development of the so-called Swiss “infrastructure region”, which was launched on November 9.

Amazon estimates that this will have an economic impact on Switzerland’s gross domestic product of around 16.3 billion Swiss francs over the next 15 years. This means, among other things, that an average of more than 2,500 full-time jobs will be retained annually at external providers: 400 in data center construction, maintenance and operations, including suppliers in the telecommunications, energy or maintenance sectors.
